I am Sebastian Koelman, Swiss trombonist and passionate musician of various styles of music.
As a trained classical trombonist, I am employed by the Swiss Symphony Orchestra Musikkollegium Winterthur.
I've been giving concerts with my ensemble Sebass (Balkan & Romani music) for 15 years and I have produced three albums.
My latest project, Primebrass, is a brass quintet with a preference for repertoire originally written for brass quintet.
I work as studio artist and I can be listend on many recordings from different artists from around the world.
I've always been very inspired by the music of the Romani. There are very few trombone players who play Romani, Balkan or Turkish music. During my travels through the Balkans I visited some fantastic musicians to learn their music and had the privilege of getting a glimpse into their culture. Their hospitality was amazing and it was an incredible and unique experience. Now I would like to encourage other trombone players to learn this music and to inspire them with the beautiful melodies and the high virtuosity of this wonderful music.
